Transnet Rail: No Changes to Existent Manganese Ore Railing Allocations

• In the radio interview, Transnet Rail Executive Manager: Business Development Bonginkosi Mabaso confirmed that opening the rail capacity to junior miners WILL NOT impact existing guaranteed manganese miner export allocations. 

• LCIB understands that the new capacity will predominantly be taken from chrome railing allocations. 

• At the same time, the average weekly Transnet port Mn ore throughput stands around 450 thousand tonnes since the beginning of 2023 vs 510 thousand tonnes for the same period in 2022 and 595 thousand tonnes in 2021.
